Vivien YUI is the Joint Head of the Employment Practice and is a Partner in the Corporate/Mergers & Acquisitions, Business Establishment, Corporate Governance & Compliance, and Private Equity Practices. Her main practice areas are private mergers and acquisitions, employment, corporate governance and compliance and general corporate and commercial work.

Vivien practises general corporate law, with an emphasis on representing private equity investments, especially in biotechnology and biomedical companies. Her clients in the pharmaceutical, healthcare and biotechnology industries include major private equity firm 3i, Bio*One Capital (the dedicated biomedical sciences investment arm of the Singapore Economic Development Board) and Invida Group, formed by Zuellig, Quintiles and Temasek Holdings and now owned by Menarini, the largest pharmaceutical company in Italy. She has also been involved in transactions with major healthcare and pharmaceutical players such as GlaxoSmithKline, Reckitt Benckiser, Eli Lilly, Novartis, amongst others. She regularly advises clients on licensing, development and marketing agreements. Vivien is recognised as a leading lawyer in the area of life sciences – transactional in Who's Who Legal's The International Who's Who of Life Sciences Lawyers and The International Who's Who of Business Lawyers.

Vivien has acted for numerous corporations (both publicly listed and private) on acquisitions, disposals and mergers. She was Singapore law counsel to China Oilfield Services in the acquisition of Awilco Offshore ASA by China Oilfield Services for approximately NOK 12.7 billion (approximately US$2.5 billion). The deal was awarded "Energy & Resources Deal of the Year" by ALB China Law Awards, 2009 and China Law & Practice Awards 2009. She was also Singapore law counsel to Mercuria Energy Group, one of the world’s five largest independent energy traders, in its acquisition of a coal concession in South East Kalimantan, Indonesia. The deal was nominated for "SE Asia M&A Deal of the Year" by ALB SE Asia Law Awards 2011.

Vivien is the Joint Head of the Firm's Employment Practice, she regularly advises multinational corporations on their global share incentive plans and establishment of local employment practices, benefits and policies. She also assists clients with immigration law and regulatory issues. 

Vivien is one of the authors of the inaugural Randstad Singapore Workpocket 2015/16, a guide designed to provide practical advice for HR managers and business owners up-to-date information on labour market trends and guidance for employers on how to remain compliant with ever-changing reforms and employment and workplace legislation.

Vivien is part of the Regional Committee Leadership for Asia and the Pacific of the Employment Law Alliance and is recommended as a leading practitioner for Employment in Best Lawyers; Asialaw Profiles – The Guide to Asia-Pacific's Leading Domestic Law Firms; The Legal 500: Asia Pacific – The Guide to Asia's Commercial Law Firms and a recognised practitioner in Chambers Asia-Pacific – Asia Pacific's Leading Lawyers for Business.

Vivien is also part of the Firm's Corporate Governance and Compliance Practice. The Corporate Governance and Compliance Practice, another cross-disciplinary Practice Group, is retained by a number of Singapore-listed corporations to advise on routine corporate governance and compliance matters, as well as contentious issues and disputes involving corporations, their officers and minority shareholders, and to act for them in respect of regulatory prosecutions or other actions commenced pursuant to the Companies Act, Securities and Futures Act and other statutes regulating the conduct and duties of corporations and their directors and officers. She has also been involved in the establishment of numerous charitable foundations by prominent local families and institutions and advises them on their ongoing compliance obligations.

Vivien periodically tutors the Advanced Corporate Practice of the preparatory course leading to Part B of the Singapore Bar Examinations run by the Singapore Institute of Legal Education.

Vivien graduated from the National University of Singapore and is admitted to the Singapore Bar.
