Lawrence FOO is a Partner in the Indonesia, Restructuring & Insolvency and Special Situations Advisory Practices.

His areas of practice encompass international & domestic arbitration, corporate & commercial disputes and cross-border restructuring & insolvency. Lawrence has considerable experience handling Indonesia-centric contentious work, having been based in Indonesia working closely with our WPG member firm Makes & Partners.

Lawrence graduated from the National University of Singapore and is admitted to the Singapore Bar.

Matters of significance in which Lawrence has been involved in include acting for the following:

  • Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P. and its affiliates as shareholders in PT Tiga Pilar Sejahtera Tbk in one of the largest Indonesian restructurings in 2018, and in related SIAC arbitration proceedings with claims in excess of US$45 million.
  • The Indonesian entity of a Big 4 Accounting Firm in relation to administrative actions and/or sanctions imposed by the Indonesian Ministry of Finance and Financial Regulatory Authority.
  • Indonesian companies in an ICC arbitration against its Chinese joint venture partner in relation to a dispute regarding the construction and operation of a 2.6 million cubic meter oil storage and blending complex, at an estimated project cost of more than US$800 million.
  • An Indonesian minority shareholder in an Indonesian bank in a SIAC arbitration against an Indian bank concerning a joint dispute which culminated in an award on liability and ultimately leading to a buy-out valued at over US$50 million.
  • The Judicial Managers of Technics Oil & Gas Limited, and Judicial Managers and Liquidators of its main operating subsidiary Technics Offshore Engineering Pte. Ltd.
  • TT International Limited in relation to its restructuring of over S$400 million in debt.
