Lydia ONG is a Partner in the Corporate/Mergers & Acquisitions Practice. Her main areas of practice are mergers and acquisitions, covering both public and private transactions. She also advises on general corporate and commercial matters.

Lydia graduated from University College London and is admitted to the Singapore Bar.

Significant transactions that Lydia has been involved in include advising / acting for the following:

  • CapitaLand Limited in its acquisition of the Ascendas-Singbridge group of companies from Ascendas-Singbridge Pte. Ltd. The deal is valued at S$11 billion and makes CapitaLand the largest diversified real estate group in Asia, with assets under management of S$123.4 billion.
  • The managers of Ascendas Hospitality Trust in its combination with Ascott Residence Trust by way of a trust scheme of arrangement to form the largest hospitality trust in the Asia-Pacific, with total asset value of S$7.6 billion.
  • Tokyo Century Corporation in its investment into Grab Rentals Pte. Ltd., taking Tokyo Century's total investment into Grab Holdings Inc. to US$175 million.
  • CapitaLand Singapore Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CapitaLand Limited, in the joint venture with CapitaLand Commercial Trust and Mitsubishi Estate Co., Ltd. to acquire and redevelop Golden Shoe Car Park into a 51-storey mixed-use development in Raffles Place, Singapore at an estimated cost of S$1.82 billion.
  • SMRT Trains Ltd. and SMRT Light Rail Pte. Ltd. in the transfer of ownership of rail operating assets (valued at approximately S$991 million) to the Land Transport Authority of Singapore in conjunction with the transition of SMRT Trains to a new operating licence under a new rail financing framework.
  • Broadcom Corporation in its acquisition by Avago Technologies Limited for US$37 billion. This deal was awarded "Deal of the Year" and "M&A Deal of the Year (Premium)" at the ALB SE Asia Law Awards, 2016.
