Russell PEREIRA is a Partner in the Banking & Financial Disputes Practice.

His main areas of practice are banking and finance-related disputes, corporate and commercial litigation, arbitration, white collar crime, commercial fraud matters, insolvency and restructuring; and shareholder disputes.

Russell graduated from National University of Singapore in 2011. He was admitted to the Singapore Bar in 2012.

Matters of significance in which Russell has been involved in include the following:

  • Acting for Ms Serina Wee, the former finance manager of City Harvest Church, Singapore, in relation to charges involving conspiracy to commit criminal breach of trust, involving the unauthorised use of S$24 million in church funds, and for conspiracy to falsify the church's accounts in respect of a further S$26 million expended to cover up the unauthorised transactions.
  • Acting for MOH Holdings Pte. Ltd. in the Committee of Inquiry into the Cybersecurity attack on Singapore Health Services Pte Ltd.
  • EFG Bank AG, Singapore Branch, in its claim in the Singapore High Court for over US$199 million under an indemnity.
  • Acting for a global sports and entertainment media company in an SIAC arbitration over the licensing of media rights.
  • Acting for one of the world’s leading audit firms in an arbitration commenced by a client for a claim amounting to more than US$300 million arising from disputed foreign exchange transactions.
  • Acting for Nord Anglia Education, Inc., an international operator of premium schools and listed on the New York Stock Exchange, in defending claims under the tort of conspiracy.
