Mark CHOY is a Partner in the Corporate/Mergers & Acquisitions, Indonesia and Middle East Practices; as well as the Joint Head of the Restructuring & Insolvency Practice.

Mark has extensive experience advising acquirers and targets in cross-border M&A deals locally in Singapore and across Asia. His clients are both listed and private companies, in a range of industries. His transactions include advising Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited in the sale by its wholly-owned subsidiaries of a 21 per cent stake in Thailand's Intouch Holdings Public Company Limited and a 7.39 per cent stake in India's Bharti Telecom Limited, to Singapore Telecommunications Limited for an aggregate consideration of S$2.47 billion; KKR Asia Limited in connection with the investment by KKR Jade Investments Pte. Ltd., an affiliate of Kohlberg Kravis Roberts & Co. L.P., for an approximately 10.44% shareholding interest in PT Japfa Comfeed Indonesia; FWD Group the insurance arm of Asia-based Pacific Century Group in the acquisition of a 90 per cent stake in group medical insurance provider Shenton Insurance Pte. Ltd.; Tiger Airways Holdings Limited in its acquisition by Singapore Airlines Limited for approximately S$453 million; and the privatisation of XinRen Aluminum Holdings Limited and Pteris Global Limited.

Mark also acted for Kheng Leong Company (Private) Limited in the acquisition of all the shares in Nassim Hill Realty Pte Ltd ("NHR") from CRL Realty Pte Ltd (a wholly own subsidiary of CapitaLand Limited) for an aggregate consideration of S$411.6 million. NHR was, at the time of the acquisition, the owner of 45 unsold units in the boutique luxury low-rise condominium known as the The Nassim; Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited in a joint development with the Singapore Tourism Board to create a large-scale nature project in the Mandai precinct. The first phase of the development is estimated to cost S$1 billion; Cargill Tropical Palm Holdings Pte. Ltd. in the acquisition of the Poliplant Group, a palm oil producer based in West Kalimantan, Indonesia; Southern Capital Group and Headland Capital Partners in the acquisition of the Canadian International School from Knowledge Universe; StarChase Motorsports (Singapore) Pte. Ltd., in the acquisition of the automotive business of WBL Corporation Limited, for approximately S$455 million.

Mark also advised Olam International Limited in respect of the voluntary conditional cash offer made by Breedens Investments Pte. Ltd.; Myanmar Golden Star Beverages Co. Ltd. in a joint venture with South Korea's Lotte Chilsung Beverage Co. Ltd., to produce and distribute PepsiCo drinks in Myanmar; PT Indofood Sukses Makmur Tbk in its acquisition of a 14.9% stake in China Minzhong Food Corporation Limited; STX OSV Holdings Limited in the S$1.4 billion takeover by Italian shipbuilding group Fincantieri Oil & Gas S.p.A.; and Singapore GP Pte. Ltd. in relation to the agreements with Formula One World Championship Limited and the Singapore Tourism Board to host, stage and promote the Formula One Singapore Grand Prix for a second five-year term from 2013 to 2017.

In addition, Mark supports the Restructuring & Insolvency Practice as they represent both debtors and creditors in cross-border restructurings and insolvency proceedings in the region. He provides invaluable strategic advice to both buyers and sellers in restructuring M&A transactions, covering aspects of bankruptcy and securities laws. In this respect, he has advised Tiger Airways in its stake purchase of Indonesia's distressed Mandala airlines and a consortium of lenders, in connection with their enforcement and receivership sale of Jaya Holdings Limited.

Mark graduated from the University of Nottingham and is admitted to the Singapore Bar.
