TAN Teck Howe is a Partner in the Corporate Real Estate and Myanmar Practices.
His main practice areas are property-related work including sales and purchases, property regulatory and advisory work, property investment and management, property development, leases and property-related commercial contracts. His clients include property developers and investors, property funds and REITs, hospitality companies, business space providers, multinationals, government authorities and academic institutions.
Recent transactions of significance which Teck Howe has been involved in include acting for City Developments Limited in the divestment of three prime office assets into a joint office investment platform with Alpha Investment Partners Limited, via its second Profit Participation Securities transaction; Temasek Holdings (Private) Limited in the partnership with the Singapore Tourism Board in a proposed project to rejuvenate Mandai with a development which includes the Singapore Zoo, Night Safari and River Safari; the joint venture entity formed by Boustead Projects Pte. Ltd. and Abu Dhabi Investment Council in the development and lease of GlaxoSmithKline's new global headquarters for Asia in Singapore at one-north business park; DHL Supply Chain Singapore Pte. Ltd., part of the Deutsche Post DHL, in the development and lease of a built-to-suit warehouse, located at Greenwich Drive, Tampines LogisPark, Singapore; Changi Airport Group (Singapore) Pte. Ltd. in respect of Project Jewel – a project for the development, construction, lease and management of the iconic aviation related mixed-use complex at Changi Airport; a tenderer in the tender for the German European School Singapore; NAE Hong Kong Limited in its acquisition of Dover Court Preparatory School (Pte.) Ltd.; and Lend Lease Commercial Investments Pte. Ltd. and Lend Lease Retail Investments 3 Pte. Ltd. in relation to a S$905 million refinancing relating to JEM, a large shopping centre in Singapore.
Teck Howe has also previously acted for Ascendas Pte. Ltd. to set up the Ascendas India Growth Programme, which has a target asset size of S$600 million and will be investing in business space in multiple Indian cities; the sole global coordinator and issue manager and the joint bookrunners and underwriters in the initial public offering of SPH REIT; the development proposals for the divestment and leasing of the two integrated projects (which will include premium office, residential, retail and hotel components) at Marina South and Ophir-Rochor in downtown Singapore; the joint global coordinators, joint bookrunners, issue managers and underwriters in the initial public offering of Ascendas Hospitality Trust; and JTC Corporation ("JTC") as vendor in the divestment (the first by a Singapore statutory authority) of its portfolio of ready-built industrial assets (comprising flatted factories, ramp-up and stack-up factories and multi-tenanted business park buildings) for S$1.71 billion to Mapletree Industrial Trust, and in phase 2 of JTC's divestment exercise whereby JTC sold two tranches of properties in Singapore to Soilbuild Group Holdings Ltd. and DBS Trustee Limited (as trustee of Mapletree Industrial Trust) for a total of S$688.63 million.
Teck Howe graduated from Mansfield College, Oxford with a Bachelor of Arts in Jurisprudence, and is admitted to the Singapore Bar. Before joining the Firm, Teck Howe was a legal officer and development control planner with the Urban Redevelopment Authority. He served as a tutor for the Legal Case Studies Negotiations Course conducted by the National University of Singapore.
