Singapore’s legal system is continually refining its enforcement framework to ensure that judgments remain effective amid a changing landscape.

In the recent Enforcement of Judgments 2025 guide (Trends and Developments) by Chambers and Partners, our Asset Recovery and International Enforcement Practice Partners, Koh Swee Yen SC, together with Joel Quek, Daniel Gaw and Lin Chun Long, share insights on how the courts are applying the revamped Rules of Court 2021 (ROC 2021). Their analysis focuses on the express recognition that cryptocurrency and intangible property, such as club memberships, can be subject to enforcement proceedings under the ROC 2021, while also examining in detail the framework for the attachment of debts and recent case law on stay of enforcement of judgments and orders.

While the application of the ROC 2021 is still in the early stages, the results thus far reveal a more robust and responsive enforcement regime, reinforcing Singapore’s position as a leading jurisdiction for judgment enforcement in today’s cross-border digital economy.
