Our Head of Restructuring & Insolvency Smitha Menon and Associate Kajal Bhatia recently co-authored an article, titled “Strengthening Ties: Singapore Leads The Way For Future Indian Insolvency Cases”, published by LiveLaw. The article discusses the landmark decision by the Singapore Court to recognise, for the first time, an Indian insolvency proceeding under the UNCITRAL Model Law on Cross-Border Insolvency.

In the article, our lawyers examine the significance of this development through the case of Compuage Infocom Limited, where such recognition enabled cross-border asset recovery and provided clarity on the interplay between Indian and Singaporean insolvency regimes. They also consider the broader implications for Indian companies with operations in Singapore, and how this decision lays the groundwork for enhanced cross-border cooperation in insolvency and restructuring matters.
