The Ministry of Trade and Industry has announced the successful conclusion by Singapore and ASEAN Member States of negotiations on the DEFA, ASEAN’s first comprehensive, region-wide agreement dedicated to the digital economy. The DEFA seeks to establish common rules and frameworks across several areas, including facilitating digital trade, promoting greater digital interoperability across the region and addressing emerging areas such as artificial intelligence, fintech, and source code protection.
