Singapore Acquisition Financing: Trends and Developments

25 Jul 2023 LegisWatch

Singapore was the top regional M&A dealmaker in 2022 with a number of significant acquisition financing transactions undertaken here, notwithstanding a general slowdown in M&A activity across the South-East Asia region in what was a fairly challenging year.

The recent article “Singapore: Trends and Developments” authored by Susan Wong (Head, Banking & Finance), Christy Lim (Deputy Head, Banking & Finance) and Felix Lee (Partner, Banking & Finance) explores recent trends and developments in the Singapore acquisition financing space. These include the growing interest in green loans, sustainability-linked loans, funding under the Enterprise Financing Scheme – Mergers & Acquisitions loan scheme, “amendment and extension” arrangements and financings through investments in special purpose acquisition companies.

The article first appeared in Chambers Global Practice Guides - Acquisition Finance 2023.
