UK Supreme Court Rules Drivers Are “Workers” Under UK Employment Statutes

The UK Supreme Court has unanimously ruled that licensed private hire drivers using Uber’s smartphone application are “workers” and therefore enjoy certain protections under the relevant UK statutes: Uber BV and others v Aslam and others [2021] UKSC 5.
