WongPartnership's Koh Swee Yen, SC, appointed to the ICCA Governing Board

19 Mar 2026

SINGAPORE, 17 MARCH 2026 – WongPartnership is pleased to announce that our Head of International Arbitration, Koh Swee Yen, Senior Counsel, has been appointed to the Governing Board of the International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA). Her four-year term will commence on 1 April 2026.

The ICCA is the world’s premier international arbitration organisation. As a global non-governmental organisation accredited by the United Nations, it plays a defining role in shaping the frameworks used to resolve international commercial disputes outside of national courts. As a member of the Governing Board - ICCA’s principal decision-making body - Swee Yen will play a strategic role in steering the organisation’s global direction and the continued evolution of international arbitration practices.

Securing a seat on the Governing Board is a significant professional honour within the international dispute resolution community. Candidates must navigate a rigorous, multi-stage peer-nomination process and secure a majority vote from the existing Board. Selection is based on exceptional professional eminence, with members typically comprising leading arbitrators and practitioners with decades of service and leadership in the field.

“Swee Yen’s appointment is a well-deserved recognition of her standing as a world-class practitioner”, said Chou Sean Yu, Managing Partner and Head of Litigation and Dispute Resolution at WongPartnership. “This reflects her continued contributions to the international arbitration community and our Firm’s continued commitment to excellence in global dispute resolution”.

In her capacity on the Governing Board, Swee Yen will contribute to the critical legal frameworks that govern international arbitration. Her involvement underscores a commitment to advancing the practice of dispute resolution and further solidifying WongPartnership’s influence within the global legal landscape.
