Alvin CHUA is a Partner in the Debt Capital Markets Practice and the Insurance Practice.

His main areas of practice are debt capital markets, securities offerings, insurance and general corporate and commercial transactions.

Alvin graduated from the National University of Singapore and is admitted to the Singapore Bar.
 

Matters of significance which Alvin has been involved in include advising/ acting for the following:

  • DBS in the update of its existing US$26 billion Structured Note Programme to facilitate the issuance of structured digital notes (“Digital Notes”), which contemplates the concurrent issuance of digital tokens that represent the rights and interests in the Digital Notes on the relevant blockchain(s) to the designated digital wallets.
  • Frasers Property Limited and Frasers Property Treasury Pte. Ltd. in the reconfiguration of its Euro Medium Term Note programme to accommodate the exempt bond issuer framework and seasoning framework under a separate retail trustee and agent, and its issuance of S$500 million 4.49% green bonds under the exempt bond issuer framework to retail investors. This transaction represents the first corporate issue of retail green bonds in Singapore.
  • Pacific International Lines on the restructuring of the approximately US$3.3 billion in aggregate of debts and liabilities of the shipping group via a consensual debt re-profiling exercise with its creditors in Singapore.
  • Various high-grade issuers, including Keppel Corporation Limited, CapitaLand Integrated Commercial Trust and Frasers Logistics & Commercial Trust in the establishment of their digital commercial paper programmes on DBS's FIX Marketplace, which is Asia's first fully digital and automated fixed income execution platform.
  • Various banks in their role as arrangers and dealers in the establishment of Medium Term Note programmes by a wide range of issuers such as the Public Utilities Board, Raffles Medical Group Ltd, NTUC FairPrice Co-operative Limited and Keppel DC REIT MTN Pte. Ltd..
