Edward TI is a Consultant in WongPartnership LLP and a principal member of the Litigation & Dispute Resolution Group. His expertise also covers Real Estate and Securitisation.

Edward is a full time Associate Professor of Law at the Yong Pung How School of Law, Singapore Management University where he specialises in property, planning and real estate law. Edward’s specialities also include classical land law, planning law (private and public takings), heritage conservation, strata law and real estate investment trusts (REITs).

A multiqualified professional in the fields of law, real estate and finance, Edward is admitted to practice law in Singapore, New York, and England & Wales. He is concurrently a Chartered Surveyor (MRICS) and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) and Chartered Alternative Investments Analyst (CAIA) designations. He is a Board Member of t.he Strata Titles Board since October 2020 and also sits on the board of an accredited issue manager for mainboard SGX-ST listings.

Significant matters that Edward has been involved include the following:

  • A S$35 million land acquisition dispute before the Court of Appeal in 2019.
  • Sasseur Cayman Holding II in the listing of Sasseur REIT (SGX:CRPU) in 2016.
  • Lead counsel (as a Deputy Public Prosecutor) in PP v Charan Singh [2013] SGHC 115.

Edward was a Lee Kong Chian Fellow in 2021/2022. He was awarded the Singapore Management University's School of Law Promising Scholar Award in 2019/2020.

He received the Informa Prize & Middleton's Award for Best Speaker in the International Maritime Law Arbitration Moot in 2009 and also received the Real Estate Developer’s Association of Singapore (REDAS) Gold Medal in 2014 for being the best student in the MSc (Real Estate) programme. Edward has received various prizes for his scholarship – CJ Koh (2007/2008 & 2008/2009), FIABCI (International Real Estate Federation) (2016) and MOE-SMU Singapore Teaching and Research Track (START) (2016).
