LIANG Weitan is a Partner in the China Practice. His main areas of practice encompass local and cross border mergers and acquisitions, private equity and general corporate and commercial laws. He was also based in our China office between 2011 and 2014.
Weitan has been recently appointed as a member of the Law Society’s Foreign Bar Liaison Committee – China Chapter. He graduated from the National University of Singapore, and is admitted to the Singapore Bar.
Significant transactions in which Weitan has been involved in include acting/advising for the following:
- Ever Glory United Holdings Limited, a company listed on the Catalist of the SGX, in its acquisition of all the shares in Guthrie Engineering (S) Pte. Ltd. from Guthrie GTS Pte. Ltd. for a total consideration of approximately S$46 million.
- TSI Metals HK Limited, the offeror in the voluntary conditional cash offer for the 356.54 million issued and paid-up ordinary shares in Dutech Holdings Limited.
- A global pension fund in its subscription of 50% of units in Aquamarine Star Trust for a consideration of approximately S$442.7 million. Aquamarine Star Trust holds the property known as Frasers Tower.
- For the purchaser in the purchase of the property known as Income at Raffles located at 16 Collyer Quay, which is a rare commercial building with a leasehold of 999 years.
- Keppel Telecommunications & Transport Ltd. in a joint venture agreement with the Jilin City government to jointly develop and operate the Sino-Singapore Jilin Food Zone International Logistics Park to serve the Sino-Singapore Jilin Food Zone.
- Knowledge City Pte. Ltd. (a subsidiary of Singbridge International Singapore Pte. Ltd.) in its joint venture with Guangzhou Knowledge City Investment and Development Co., Ltd., for the Sino-Singapore Guangzhou Knowledge City Project.
