On 6 April 2026, the Accounting and Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA) issued Practice Direction No. 1 of 2026 on “External Private Capital Arrangements in Accounting Entities" (Practice Direction), its first dedicated guidance on private equity and other forms of external capital in Singapore accounting firms and limited liability partnerships. The Practice Direction should be read alongside the Accountants Act 2004 and the ACRA Code of Professional Conduct and Ethics Applicable to Public Accountants and Accounting Entities.
In this update, we outline the key issues of particular relevance to private equity sponsors.
