Insights on early-stage fundraising masterclass by Start-Up/Venture Capital Practice Joint Head Kyle Lee

06 Apr 2021

WongPartnership has made available online a Masterclass video on early-stage fundraising.

Facilitated by our WPGrow: Start-Up/Venture Capital Practice Partner/Joint Head Kyle Lee and in collaboration with Tommy Teo of Vulcan Capital, the Masterclass aims to shed light on the anatomy of early-stage term sheets and provide insights on the competing commercial considerations that one should be aware of during negotiations. Learn all about Venture Capital and the different forms of VC investments as Kyle and Tommy take you through the fund raising process, break down the complexities of a term sheet, and discuss deal dynamics.

The Masterclass was first recorded during the Singapore FinTech Festival x SWITCH (Singapore Week of Innovation and Technology) event in 2020.

Our WPGrow: Start-Up/Venture Capital Practice advises clients across a spectrum of matters to include the setting up of employee incentive plans and preparation of data privacy policies, the raising of equity funding rounds and trade sales. Other areas the team specialises in are the setting up of venture capital (VC) fund management firms and the raising of VC funds.

Our Practice Joint Heads Ong Sin Wei and Kyle Lee who regularly speak at industry events are also part of the core working group for the Venture Capital Investment Model Agreements (VIMA) initiative. The initiative is spearheaded by the Singapore Academy of Law (SAL) and the Singapore Venture Capital and Private Equity Association (SVCA).

As part of WongPartnership’s push for innovation, we have launched WPGrow-VIMA, a document automation initiative for start-ups and venture capitalists to create a standard set of contracts automatically online based on the VIMA documents promulgated by the SAL and the SVCA. WPGrow-VIMA helps parties improve efficiencies in creating standard set of contracts intended to balance the interests of both the investor and the company.
